This worked fine for me even with the older 1.0 iPhone software. I haven't looked at this section of the manual in a while, so don't remember it well. I'll check it again later. The problems that I had with the iPhone continuously connecting and disconnecting seem to have been largely resolved in the 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 iPhone updates. You might also check with one of the Audi forums, like the AudiWorld.com A3 forum where I hang out, to see if someone there has some good advice.
